Ross McLeod Engaged to Examine the Cost-Effectiveness of the World Health Organization’s South Asia Region Tuberculosis Strategy |
|
The Global TB Report in 2016 estimated USD 6.6 billion was available for TB prevention, diagnosis and treatment in low- and middle-income countries in 2016, with WHO South Asia countries accounting for 10% of worldwide expenditure in this year despite the region being home to more than a quarter of the global burden of TB mortality in 2015. There is need to estimate what resources are required to finance a response in this part of Asia to meet Global Plan to End TB targets. Continued funding shortfalls will result in TB incidence further escalating, resulting in even larger long term resource commitments to meet global TB reduction targets.
