Review of AusAID’s Tibet Health Sector Support Program

Ross McLeod led the review mission for AusAID’s Tibet Health Sector Support Program, a A$19.3 million initiative implemented from 2004 to 2010.
The program aimed to improve health outcomes in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), focusing on disadvantaged populations in rural and remote areas.
Activities targeted seven prefectures—Lhasa, Shigatse, Ngari, Nagqu, Nyingchi, Chamdo, and Shannan—through strengthening township health centres, training health workers, and improving maternal and child health services.
McLeod contributed to evaluating the program’s effectiveness, sustainability, and alignment with regional health priorities, supporting evidence-based recommendations to guide Australia’s future health and development assistance in the region
