WHO's 'Bending the Curve' Strategy to Combat TB in Asia
World Health Organization
Asia
11/16-04/17
The Bending the Curve: Ending TB in Asia strategy was developed to accelerate progress toward regional TB elimination targets. Commissioned by WHO, economist Ross McLeod conducted cost-effectiveness modelling to assess priority interventions across high-burden countries. His analysis informed strategic resource allocation, identifying the most impactful and efficient investments in diagnostics, treatment, and prevention. The modelling supported evidence-based decision-making to help countries align national plans with regional targets and achieve maximum health gains within constrained budgets

Menzies Centre for Health Policy - The University of Sydney

Data was obtained to estimate the costs associated with general practitioner (GP) shared care and specialist-led models. Various elements of care delivery for patients receiving shared and specialist-led care were described. Markov and financial budget impact models were constructed in Excel to analyze the economic implications of  care approaches. Costs were estimated from the perspectives of patients, service providers, and the government. Additionally, scenarios were developed to explore the potential national cost impacts of different relative uses of shared care versus specialist-led models, informing future healthcare planning and policy decisions
