eSYS Development was contracted by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons to conduct a health technology assessment (HTA) on deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the thalamus for treating severe refractory epilepsy.

This evaluation was undertaken for the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) in Australia. DBS involves implanting electrodes into the thalamus to deliver electrical impulses, aiming to suppress seizure activity in patients unresponsive to conventional treatments.

The assessment analyzed clinical efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness to inform potential public funding decision
